of the Week
honors

Essence Chambers of women's basketball and
freshman
Tyreck
McFadden of football
have earned
USA South
Athlete of
the Week
honors.
Chambers was
tabbed
Player of
the Week on
the hardwood,
while
McFadden
was named
Offensive Rookie of
the Week
on the
gridiron.
This is
Chambers'
first award and McFadden's second.
Chambers, a senior
guard from Burlington, NC, led
the Bishops to a 55-41 victory over Salem College in the
Battling Bishops' season opener on Saturday. She tallied
a double-double by scoring a game-high 21 points and
grabbing ten rebounds. She also added four assists and
was 9-for-12 at the free-throw line in the win.
McFadden, a freshman running back
from Beulaville, NC, recorded his second consecutive
100-yard rushing game in a 35-3 win over USA South rival
Greensboro. McFadden carried the ball 23 times for 109
yards, an average of 4.7 yards per carry. McFadden also
tallied two touchdowns on the ground. His one-yard run
in the first quarter gave the Bishops an early 7-0 lead,
while his final touchdown in the fourth quarter
completed the game's scoring.
