WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT: Bishop softball to honor seniors Whitney Moshier and Payton Gordon

Rocky Mount, NC - Prior to the start of Wednesday afternoon's USA South softball doubleheader versus Methodist University, the Bishops and head coach John Brackett would like to take time to recognize the two senior captains of this year’s squad: Whitney Moshier and Payton Gordon. A brief synopsis of each player's career is below.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

#5 Whitney Moshier
Whitney has seen action in 133 games during her four-year Bishop career, starting 131 of those contests. During that time, she has amassed 124 hits, including 17 doubles, six triples and five homeruns.  A career.313 hitter, she has stolen 30 bases, scored 89 runs, recorded 52 RBI, and will end her career as the program’s all-time leader in sacrifice hits. Additionally, Whitney was a Second Team All-Conference performer last season, while also garnering Academic All-Conference honors. A native of Chesterfield, VA, she is majoring in Justice Studies and is the daughter of Gene and Cindy Moshier.

#8 Payton Gordon
Payton has seen action in 122 games during her four-year Bishop career, starting 119 of those contests. During that time, she has amassed 87 hits, including seven doubles, while scoring 31 runs and recording 54 RBI. A career .272 hitter, Payton has excelled defensively in the outfield and at first base, committing just eight errors in nearly 200 chances during her career. She currently leads the Bishops this season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with zero errors in 58 chances. A native of Richmond, VA, she is majoring in Business and is the daughter of Jiggs and Donna Gordon.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coach Brackett and the Battling Bishop softball program would like to thank each of these young ladies for their contributions to the College both on and off the field. Their softball abilities and leadership will be truly missed.
