WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT: NCWC's Don
Scalf featured on USA South's "Ask the Commissioner"
Rocky
Mount, NC
-
In an
effort to increase the publicity of Conference events and
its member institutions through the use of video content,
the USA South Athletic Conference has launched a channel on
the popular "You Tube" website. The videos include coach’s
comments, interviews with Conference award and tournament
winning student-athletes, highlights of championship events,
and a monthly "Ask the Commissioner" segment, among others.
North Carolina Wesleyan was
pleased when one of its own was featured on this month's
"Ask the Commissioner" segment with Rita Wiggs. NCWC
Hall of Famer Don Scalf joined Commissioner Wiggs to answer
a student-athlete's question regarding the origins of the
USA South Conference. The video is
housed
in the USA South Video Vault at
www.youtube.com/usasouthathconf. Please take the
time listen to Coach Scalf's comments and learn a bit of
history along the way!
Considered
one of the
College’s
most
outstanding
associates,
Scalf came
to NCWC
in 1962 as a

education
instructor.
He went on
to serve the
College for
36 years
while
coaching a
variety of
sports.
Additionally,
he was the
second
Director of
Athletics in
Bishops
history.
All
of his
efforts culminated
with his
being named
to the
inaugural
Athletics
Hall of Fame
class in
1999. Scalf
Field and
Scalf Court
are
currently
home to six
Bishop teams.
