Fayetteville, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that three Battling Bishop athletes have earned USA South Weekly accolades in their respective sports. Senior Brittany Insley of volleyball was named Player of the Week, while freshmen Kristin Seidel and Jack Gilbert were named Rookies of the Week in women's tennis and men's golf, respectively.

Volleyball Player of the Week
Brittany Insley, a native of Arlington, OH, posted a .388 attack percentage and averaged 4.4 kills, 2.6 digs and 1.0 block per set last week as the Bishops posted a 4-0 record. In Tuesday's 3-1 win over USA South foe Meredith, Insley recorded a team-high 13 kills, ten digs, four blocks, two assists and one service ace. She followed that up with a match-high 19 kills, seven digs, three blocks and two service aces in a 3-0 win over Salem on Thursday. On Saturday, Insley led Wesleyan to
3-0 and 3-1 victories over Mary Baldwin and Greensboro, respectively, with a combined 30 kills and .500 hitting percentage in the two contests. Wesleyan has now won five straight matches to improve to 7-6 overall.

Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Kristin Seidel, a native of Laaken, Germany, totaled a 4-0 singles record and a 1-1 doubles mark at Methodist Fall Invitational last week. In the "C" singles bracket, Seidel won four consecutive matches to win the tournament. Her wins came over players from Methodist and Meredith. In doubles action, Seidel teamed with Bristy Parker to finish as runners-up in the "C" bracket.

Men's Golf Rookie of the Week
Jack Gilbert, a native of London, England, shot a one-over par 145 to tie for third at the NC Wesleyan Fall Challenge. Gilbert led the Battling Bishops to a second-place finish in the two-day tournament. He shot a first round, three-over par 75, then followed with a two-under par 70 in round two.
