Five Battling Bishops garner USA South Weekly accolades

Fayetteville, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that five Battling Bishop athletes have earned USA South Weekly accolades in their respective sports. Senior Bo Jordan was named Offensive Player of the Week in football, while senior Brittany Insley and junior Kelly George were named volleyball's Player and Defensive Player of the week.  Finally, sophomore Ousman Sarr and freshman Michael Muhseler swept the men's soccer awards.

Football Offensive Player of the Week
Quarterback Bo Jordan, a native of Gibsonville, NC, accumulated 358 yards in Wesleyan's 35-7 win over USA South rival Christopher Newport. Jordan recorded his fourth-consecutive 300-yard passing game as he was 23-for-37 with 323 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 35 yards rushing in the win. This is his second award of the season.

Volleyball Player of the Week
Brittany Insley, a middle hitter from Arlington, OH, posted a .404 attack percentage and averaged 4.8 kills, 3.9 digs and 0.5 blocks per set last week as the Bishops posted a 3-0 record versus USA South competition. In a 3-0 win over Meredith, Insley tallied a match-high 17 kills with seven digs, three assists, and two blocks. Then in a 3-0 sweep of Shenandoah, she contributed a match-high 16 kills with nine digs and two service aces. She finished the week with a double-double of 15 kills and 23 digs in NCWC's 3-1 victory over Peace. This is her second award of the season. 

Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Libero Kelly George of Derwood, MD averaged 6.2 digs per set last week in the Battling Bishops' three league victories. In a 3-0 win over Meredith, George tallied a team-high 13 digs with one assist and one service ace. She followed that up with a match-high 16 digs versus Shenandoah. Finally, in a 3-1 win over Peace, George totaled a match- and season-high 33 digs with two assists, one kill, and one service ace. This is her second award of the season.

Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Ousman Sarr, a sophomore forward from Raleigh, NC, helped the Bishops defeat USA South foe Averett by a 4-2 score in the team's only action of the week. Sarr assisted on the Bishops' first goal of the match then netted the eventual gamewinner in the 37th minute. This is the first award of his career.

Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Michael Muhseler, a freshman forward from Hanover, Germany, scored one goal and assisted on another in the Bishops' victory over Averett. Muhseler assisted on Wesleyan's first goal of the match and tallied the go-ahead score at the time in the 33rd minute. This is his third award of the season.
