NCWC softball wins 10th straight, but drops two at Classic

Florence, SC - The North Carolina Wesleyan softball team won its 10th straight contest on Saturday afternoon, downing Huntingdon College by a 3-0 score in the first game of East Coast Classic hosted by Methodist College.  Unfortunately for the Bishops, their winning streak was snapped later in the day when NCWC fell to LaGrange and Peace by 14-0 and 3-0 scores, respectively.  Wesleyan is now 12-3 overall.

Junior pitcher Libby Fulford led the Bishops against Huntington, tossing a four-hit shutout en route to her eighth win of the season.  Additionally, she delivered a hit and an RBI at the plate.

In games two and three, the Bishops struggled to find offense.  Karen Hathcock suffered her first loss of the season against LaGrange, while freshman Tiffany McCord took the loss against Peace despite allowing just three hits in the contest.

Sophomore Payton Gordon led Wesleyan offensively with two hits against the Pacers.

The Bishops return to USA South action on Wednesday when they host Methodist College at 2:00 p.m.
