Bishop offense explodes in softball
sweep at Salem

one, while
junior pitcher
Karen Hathcock
tossed a
one-hitter in
game two to lead
their Bishop
softball squad
of North
Carolina
Wesleyan to a
doubleheader
sweep at Salem
College on
Wednesday
afternoon.
The Bishop
offense exploded
for 52 runs as
Wesleyan earned
23-4 and 29-1
wins. NCWC
is now 5-1 on
the season.
Hardy's game one
performance
included a grand
slam homerun.
Also enjoying a
productive game
at the plate was
sophomore Payton
Gordon, who
recorded three
hits, including
a double and
four RBIs.
Courtney Tucker
and Ashlee Bass
also ripped
three hits each
and combined to
drive in seven
runs.
Junior pitcher
Libby Fulford
earned the game
one victory, her
third of the
season.
Freshman Tiffany
McCord led the
Bishop offense
in game two with
seven RBIs.
She turned in a
4-for-6
performance at
the plate and
blasted her
first collegiate
homerun.
Erin Luper added
three hits,
while Bass and
Krystal Newbern
collected two
doubles apiece.
Hathcock
dominated in
game two,
tossing the
complete game
one-hitter.
The
Bishops return
to action on
Friday when they
travel to
Meredith
College.
Game one of the
non-conference
twinbill is
slated to begin
at 2:00 p.m.
