George leads Wesleyan to volleyball sweep of Salem, 3-0

Rocky Mount, NC - Junior setter Caitlin George (pictured) tallied a game-high 32 assists and four service aces, leading her North Carolina Wesleyan volleyball squad to a 3-0 sweep of Salem College on Wednesday night in Everett Gym.  Game scores were 30-11, 30-14, and 30-10.  With the victory, the Bishops are now 4-6 on the season.

Wesleyan controlled play from the start.  Up 8-7 in game one, the Bishops' Liana Poyer served 12 straight points, including five aces, to put the game out of reach. 

Game two saw the Bishops tally a team-high 17 kills, while Wesleyan recorded a .647 hitting percentage to dominate game three.

Sophomore Sydney Bens turned in a game-high 13 kills, while freshman Brittany Insley notched 10 kills and seven digs on the night.  Poyer and April Wilson added seven and six kills, respectively, with Poyer recording nine service aces.

For Salem, Alexis Means had three kills and six digs.

The Bishops will open up USA South play on Friday night at Shenandoah University.  Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
