Bishop volleyball drops two conference matches at Ferrum

Ferrum, VA - The Bishop volleyball squad dropped two USA South Conference matches on Saturday at Ferrum College.  NC Wesleyan (4-12, 0-6) fell to the host Panthers 3-1 in game one by 23-30, 30-24, 30-24, and 30-27 scores.  The Bishops were then swept by Peace College in game two by 30-28, 30-28, and 30-24 scores.  Despite the two losses, freshman Brittany Insley turned in two solid matches, including a career-high 24-kill performance against Ferrum.

Insley added 11 digs in the Ferrum game, while Sydney Bens tallied 10 kills and 11 digs of her own.  Sophomore setter Caitlin George recorded a game-high 41 assists.

Against Peace, both Insley and Bens tallied a team-high 12 kills apiece.  George had 27 assists and 10 digs in the losing effort.

Wesleyan managed higher hitting percentages than its opponents in both matches, but unforced errors were too much for the Bishops to overcome.

The Bishops will return home on Wednesday when they host Methodist College.  Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Everett Gym.
