Insley powers Bishop volleyball to two league sweeps

Winchester, VA - Sophomore Brittany Insley tallied 29 kills and 17 digs on Saturday, leading her North Carolina Wesleyan volleyball squad to USA South sweeps of Peace College and Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA.  Insley (pictured) began the day with 18 kills and 13 digs against the Pacers and finished with 11 kills and four digs against the Hornets.  The Bishops improve to 12-10 on the season, 5-4 in league action.

Wesleyan downed Peace by 30-21, 30-27, and 30-23 scores.  In addition to Insley's performance, senior Caitlin George chipped in 40 assists.  Junior Sydney Bens and freshman Jessica Johnson added 13 and nine kills, respectively, and Kelly George turned in nine digs defensively.

Game scores against host Shenandoah were 30-19, 32-30, and 30-17.  George finished with 27 assists, while Bens tallied a game-high seven digs.  As a team, the Bishops recorded a .224 hitting percentage to the Hornets' .012.

The Bishops take a break from conference play on Tuesday when they travel to Guilford College.  Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.  The Quakers were 3-1 winners over Wesleyan earlier in the season.
