NCWC volleyball wins third straight, downs Guilford 3-2

Greensboro, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan volleyball team won its third straight match on Tuesday night, downing Guilford College on the road in a 3-2 thriller.  Game scores were 30-22, 30-22, 29-31, 30-32, and 15-8.  With the win, the Bishops avenge an early season 3-1 loss to the Quakers and improve to 13-10 on the season.

After the Bishops jumped out to a 2-0 lead with convincing wins in games one and two, the Quakers fought back to tie the match at two games apiece.  It was not an easy feat for Guilford, however, as games three and four featured 16 ties and eight lead changes.

But Wesleyan would not be denied in game five.  The Bishops never trailed after jumping out to a 8-1 lead.  Guilford tallied just four kills against six attack errors en route to the loss.

Brittany Insley paced Wesleyan with a team-high 19 kills.  Freshman Kelly George turned in a career-high 32 digs on defense, while sister Caitlin amassed 28 assists.  Junior Sydney Bens added 13 kills and 15 digs.

The Bishops will now enjoy a seven-day break before returning to USA South play next Tuesday at Meredith College.  Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Raleigh.
