Bishop women end season with
81-50 loss at Ferrum

- The North Carolina
Wesleyan women's basketball
team saw its 2006-07 season
come to an end on Tuesday
night when the 8th-seeded
Bishops fell to top-seeded
Ferrum by an 81-50 score in
USA South Tournament first
round play. Wesleyan
ends the season with a 4-21
overall record.
The first half saw both
teams struggle offensively.
The Panthers managed to
build a nine-point cushion
at the break with a 27-18
lead.
Ferrum opened the second
half with a 22-7 run that
spanned the first seven and
a half minutes of the
period, forging a 24-point
lead at 49-25. It
proved to be the
difference-maker as the
Bishops would not recover.
The Panther lead, in fact,
grew to as large as 36 down
the stretch.
FC's Quanita Bennett led all
scorers with 13 points on
the night. Tonya
Wright added 12, while
Tiesha Terry and Miranda
Carrasco each chipped in 11.
Tuesday's loss ended the
four-year careers of J.D.
Richardson, April Wilson,
and Liz Ansley. Wilson
finished with 10 points and
eight rebounds, while
Richardson turned in seven
points and four assists.
Junior Lawanda Scott
recorded the game's lone
double-double with 13 points
and 11 rebounds, and
freshman Shameika Faircloth
rounded out NCWC's
double-figure scorers with
10 points.
