White's triple-double lifts CNU over Bishop women, 64-53

Rocky Mount, NC - Sophomore Kelly White turned in a rare triple-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 blocks on Tuesday night, lifting her Captains of Christopher Newport to a 64-53 win over homestanding North Carolina Wesleyan.  After holding a slim 29-28 halftime lead, the Bishops shot just 20 percent from the floor in the second half en route to the loss.  CNU improves to 10-2 overall, 5-0 in league play, while Wesleyan drops to 4-7 on the season, 1-4 in conference action.

The game saw four ties and eight lead changes before the Captains were able to pull away in the second half.  The Bishops forced 27 CNU turnovers and committed only 10, but Wesleyan struggled at the free throw line at just 39 percent accuracy (7-of-18).  CNU won the battle of the boards 61-38.

Essence Chambers led the Bishops with a team-high 13 points and three assists.  Senior Cheyenne Hall pulled down nine rebounds.

In addition to White's performance for CNU, Chelsie Schweers added a game-high 16 points.  Colandra Rollins turned in a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards.

Wesleyan travels to Greensboro College on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
