Carolina Wesleyan women’s basketball team picked up its
first win of the season on Tuesday night, downing Salem
College by an 80-56 score on the road. The Bishops, who
held a slim 34-32 lead the break, out-scored the Spirits

the season.
With
9:48 left in the first half, Salem held a 16-15 lead.
Wesleyan, however, put together a 10-3 run to take the lead
for good. The Spirits did put up a fight as

and five points in the final 38 seconds of the period,
helping Salem College pull within two at intermission.
In the
second half, the Bishops took control right away as they
outscored the Spirits in the first ten minutes by a 20-7
margin. Wesleyan did not look back en route to the victory.
In
addition to Chambers’ performance, Cheyenne Hall and

rebounding with 10, while freshman Gretchen Tobias grabbed
nine boards.
