Bishops split at Meredith College
Women's Soccer Classic

After a loss to host Meredith on
Saturday, the Bishop women's soccer
team of North Carolina Wesleyan
rebounded with a 7-0 shutout of
Salem College on Sunday to earn a
two-game split at the 2006 Meredith
College Classic. Sophomore Reva
McCloud (pictured) scored the
eventual gamewinner less than five
minutes in to snap a three-game
scoreless streak for Wesleyan.
The Bishops are now 5-9-1 on the
season.
Freshman Meredith Hester scored two
goals and notched an assist, while
sophomore Rachel Rosenbarker also
tallied two scores for the Bishops.
Tori Tenner and Eva Benavides
rounded out Wesleyan's goal-scorers,
both unassisted.
Aubrey Bonorden and Tenner also
recorded assists for Wesleyan, who
out-shot the Spirits 17-2 on the
day. The Bishops held a 3-0
lead at the half.
Sarah Hess and Bryanne Godfrey split
time between the posts for NCWC with
Hess making one save. Salem
goalies Laura Young and Jenna Wolff
combined to make six saves for the
Spirits.
Wesleyan dropped Saturday's match to
the regionally-ranked Angels by a
11-0 score.
The
Bishops will travel to Averett
University on Friday for a 3:00 p.m.
conference match-up with the
Cougars. Friday will serve as
the final regular season match of
2006 for Wesleyan, whose USA South
Tournament will begin on Tuesday,
October 31st.
