Bishop women end soccer season with 5-0 loss to CNU

Newport News, VA - The women's soccer team of North Carolina Wesleyan saw its 2006 season come to an end on Tuesday night, falling to the 3rd-seeded Captains of Christopher Newport by a 5-0 score in the first round of USA South Conference Tournament.  Wesleyan finishes with a 5-11-1 overall record.

CNU opened up a 4-0 lead over the 6th-seeded Bishops at the break and did not look back en route to the victory.  Hillary Carney, Marica Betoney, Jaclyn Trono, Stefani Brown, and Nikki Greenberg all scored goals for the Captains, who out-shot the BIshops 23-4 on the night.

Bishop goalie Sarah Hess made six saves in goal.  CNU keeper Erin Wojkun earned her team's 12th win by making three saves.

Tuesday's game marked the end of the collegiate careers of Bishop seniors Bryanne Brown, Janette Davidson, and Christina Torres.
