Wesleyan downs AU women in regular season finale, 7-0

Danville, VA - The Battling Bishop women's soccer team wrapped up its regular season schedule on Sunday afternoon, downing Averett University by a 7-0 score in Danville.  Sophomore Meredith Hester scored the eventual game-winner in the 11th minute, while Joanne Youngblood added two scores of her own.  Wesleyan (5-11-0, 4-5-0) enters next week's USA South Conference Tournament as the #6 seed and will travel to #3 Greensboro on Tuesday.

Also scoring goals for the Bishops were Reva McCloud, Rachel Rosenbarker, Megan Kintner, and Lauren Stearns.  Mayra Gomez added two assists, while McCloud and Alex Fountaine each had one.

Goalies Sarah Hess and Cary Trump combined for the shutout between pipes.

NCWC's first round match-up with the Pride is slated for an 11:30 a.m. start.  Greensboro defeated Wesleyan earlier in the season by a 5-0 score.
