Bryn Mawr downs Bishops in women's soccer action, 3-0

Bryn Mawr, PA - Bryn Mawr College forged a 1-0 halftime lead on Friday afternoon, and the Owl defense made it stand up as BMC downed North Carolina Wesleyan by a 3-0 score in women's soccer action.  The Bishops, who out-shot the Owls 17-13 on the day, could not convert on any of their 10 shots-on-goal.  With the win, Bryn Mawr improves to 2-0, while Wesleyan now stands at 1-1 overall.

The Owls got all of the offense they would need in the 28th minute when Akua Nyame-Mensah beat two NCWC defenders and converted a breakaway shot.  The score remained 1-0 until Bryn Mawr found the back of the net in the 74th and 80th minutes.  Wallis Romzek and Katy Wing were credited with the goals, respectively.

Wesleyan keeper Bryanne Godfrey allowed all three scores and suffered the loss.  She finished with four saves on the day.  For Bryn Mawr, Collette Pullion made nine saves en route to the shutout.

Rachel Rosenbarker tallied nine shot attempts for the Bishops, six of which were on-goal.  Wesleyan also had four corner kicks to the Owls' zero.

The Battling Bishops return to action on Sunday at Hamilton College.  Game time is slated for 11:00 a.m. in Clinton, NY.
