Biography:
A native of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Jessie Warren received a Bachelor
of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of North
Carolina at Wilmington in 2003. During her time at UNC-W, Jessie
participated in several campus activities including Phi Sigma Pi
honor fraternity, the Association for Campus Entertainment, and the
National Student Exchange Program wherein she spent a semester
studying at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Upon graduation
Jessie accepted a position as a Media Coordinator at Lewis
Advertising in Rocky Mount, NC. This proved to be a wonderful
company to work for and Jessie enjoyed her time there but she truly
missed working on a college campus and making a difference in the
lives of students. This passion for working with college students
is what prompted her to begin graduate school full-time in August of
2004 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. During her time at
ODU, Jessie worked in the Office of Student Activities and
Leadership, the Office of Admissions, and the Department of
Educational Leadership and Counseling. She also worked in the Dean
of Students' Office at Virginia Wesleyan College. In May 2006,
Jessie completed her Master of Science in Education degree with an
emphasis on Higher Education and accepted a position with North
Carolina Wesleyan College as Pre-Major Advisor and Coordinator of
Internships and Career Services.
Jessie chose the College for her first higher education
professional experience because of its close-nit campus community
and the many opportunities the position offers to acquire new skills
while working closely with students.
In her time away from the College,
Jessie serves as the Vice-President for the
Young Professionals Network
and an Ambassador to the
Chamber of Commerce. She also enjoys spending time with her
family and her toy poodle puppy, Sassy, in addition to golfing,
reading, water sports, volleyball, traveling, camping, photography,
and, of course, singing in her car.
