Bishop
men's tennis tabbed 16th in final ITA national rankings

- The Intercollegiate
Tennis Association (ITA) has released its final national
rankings for the 2009 season with the Battling Bishops of NC
Wesleyan coming in at #16. The ranking is the highest in the
history of the men's tennis program and caps a
record-breaking season that saw Wesleyan capture the USA
South Regular Season and Tournament Championships, as well
as an NCAA berth.

Assistant Athletics
Director. In addition to her
current duties, Rich will be
taking over eligibility

coordinating marketing
efforts
for the BBC.

Bishops have 73 athletes
garner USA South academic
honors

The USA South Athletic
Conference has released its
2008-2009 Academic
All-Conference Team, and
North Carolina Wesleyan is
pleased to announce that 73
Battling Bishops have been
honored. A student-athlete
must have earned a 3.0 GPA
in each of the two semesters
of a given year to be
eligible. This season, a
league record total of 728
athletes earned Academic
All-Conference accolades.

promotes Thompson to Vice President, Athletics

John Thompson, North Carolina Wesleyan College’s
Athletic Director and Head Men’s Basketball Coach,
will be using his talents campus-wide as Vice
President, Athletics, the College has announced. In
his new role, Thompson will join Wesleyan’s primary
advisory and leadership group, the President’s
Council. He will continue as
Men’s Basketball Coach.

Trio of
Battling Bishops garner All-South Region accolades

The North Carolina Wesleyan baseball program and head coach
Charlie Long are pleased to announce that a trio of Battling
Bishop seniors have earned All-South Region accolades for
their performances during the 2009 season. Third baseman
Zollie Woodlief (pictured) was named to the Second Team,
while centerfielder Luke Williford and starting pitcher Ben
Moore garnered Third Team honors. The three helped
lead the Bishops to the 2009 USA South Regular Season
Championship, Tournament Championship, and an NCAA
Tournament berth.
