announces 2010 Athletics Hall of
Fame class

- Since 1999,
North Carolina Wesleyan College has honored
45 former athletes, administrators, teams,
coaches, and contributors by enshrining them
in its Athletics Hall of Fame. These
individuals have created a higher standard
for Battling Bishop athletics and were
selected based on their outstanding
accomplishments and/or contributions to the
College. This year’s class meets these same
standards and will comprise the 12th group
of honorees. The North Carolina Wesleyan
Department of Athletics is pleased to
announce that James Anderson of baseball,
Scott Kennell of men’s soccer, and Kim Olsen
of women’s soccer and softball
have been chosen to comprise its 2010 Hall
of Fame class.

Bishops add
men’s cross country, name
Ripke head golf coach

Mount, NC - The
North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is
pleased to officially announce the addition of men’s
cross country to its list of intercollegiate sport
offerings, as well as the hiring of Gregg Ripke as
head coach of men’s golf. Ripke replaces interim
golf coach David Doino, who will be charged with
starting up the men’s cross country program this
fall. With this addition, Wesleyan now sponsors 14
varsity sports, seven each for men and women.

Knowles named Cal Ripken League Pitcher of the Week

NC - In summer baseball
action, North Carolina Wesleyan lefthander Max Knowles
(pictured) earned Pitcher of the Week honors in the Cal
Ripken League for the extended first week of 2010. Playing
for the Alexandria Aces, Knowles won both of his starts,
following up a seven-inning victory on Opening Night with a
nine-inning shutout on June 9th.

garner USA South academic
honors

Conference has released its
2009-2010 Academic
All-Conference Team, and
NC Wesleyan is
pleased to announce that a
record 78
Battling Bishops have been
honored. A student-athlete
must have earned a 3.0 GPA
in each of the two semesters
of a given year to be
eligible. This season, a total of
689
athletes across the league earned Academic
All-Conference accolades.
