Carlstad Crusaders 70
Stu Northside Bulls 6

Saturday we played the Stu Northside Bulls, a team who’s been struggling to begin the season and are at the bottom of the league standings.  It was stressed all week during practice that it was important for us to find our rhythm again and run on all cylinders as a team. To get us back on the right track, we did a lot of competing sessions in practice during the week.  Coach emphasized the importance of competing. I think as players we really responded to that as we had a solid week of preparation.

We started the game off with the ball, and immediately went to work scoring on our 3rd play of the drive -- a run by our back Marcus, thanks to some great blocks down field by our line and wide outs.  We went on to score on 2 of our next 4 possessions, the last of which I threw my 1st pick in Sweden, which ticked me off, especially since it came due to the pass slipping out on the throw.  We went into the half up 28-6, our last score coming off a punt that was returned for a touchdown by our receiver Christian Forsman.  On our last possessions, we didn’t score because we put ourselves in bad positions with mental mistakes... also, they managed to score after an off-sides penalty by us kept their drive alive.  During halftime, Coach challenged us to be perfect the second half, as we felt like we hadn’t had a perfect half all season……offensively anyway.

The team responded immediately as our D forced a turnover and returned it for a score on the 3rd play after the half.  From there, it was a route as offensively we scored every time we touched the ball.  Defensively, we shut them out and forced 2 fumbles, 2 interceptions, and a blocked punt to fuel the offense’s charge in the 2nd half.  The win lifted us to a 3-1 recorded and also left us with some very rare statistics.  For example, time of possession -- our offense only had the ball for a total of 12 minutes, which means our D was on the field for 3 quarters.  We also only threw the ball 12 times for 147 yds, but raked up 285 yds on the ground, with two 100 yd rushers.  One of our DBs, Viktor Jansson, garnered Player of the Game honors as he intercepted 2 passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown, and also made 10/10 extra points.

We play another home game this weekend against a 2-2 Goteburg team.  Right now we don’t know much about them, but we expect a pretty solid team as their only losses come from the two undefeated teams in our league.
