Battling Bishop men's basketball
cracks D3Hoops Top-25 poll
Rocky
Mount, NC
- The North Carolina Wesleyan
Department of Athletics and head
coach John Thompson are pleased
to announce that the Battling
Bishop men's basketball squad
has cracked D3Hoops.com's Top-25
national poll. The
Bishops, who entered the week
with an undefeated 6-0 record,
came in at #24 in this week's
rankings.
Thompson has the Bishops off to
the best start in his 14-year
tenure. Wesleyan is
currently averaging nearly 96
points per game, while shooting
over 50 percent from the floor
and 40 percent from behind the
arc. Defensively, the Bishops
are averaging over 12 steals and
four blocks per contest.
Thompson is pleased to see his
guys receive this recognition,
stating, "It’s
nice that our players are
recognized for how they have
played to this point. We all
realize it is very early and
that we need to keep working to
get better everyday."
After a key regional match-up
with Guilford College on Tuesday
night in Greensboro, Wesleyan
returns home this weekend to
host its annual Roger Taylor
Invitational
featuring York (NY), St.
Vincent, and Lancaster Bible.
York and St. Vincent will face
off at 6:00 p.m. Friday,
followed by Wesleyan and
Lancaster Bible at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday's
consolation and championship
games are slated for 1:00 and
3:00 p.m., respectively.
