North Carolina Wesleyan Athletics to
unveil new logo
Rocky Mount, NC
- The North Carolina Wesleyan
College Department of Athletics, in
coordination with the Battling
Bishops Club, has announced a press
conference that will feature the
unveiling of its newly designed
Bishops logo. The official launch is
scheduled for Friday, July 21st at
2:30 p.m. in NCWC’s Taylor Center.
All members of the media, as well as
friends and family of the College,
are invited to attend.
The press conference will include an
introduction by Director of
Athletics John Thompson, followed by
remarks from basketball alumni Roger
Taylor, Wesleyan’s first
All-American and Hall of Fame
member. There will be a question and
answer session following the
unveiling, along with a brief
explanation of the path taken to
achieve the upgraded design.
Logo decals displaying the new
moniker will be given to all in
attendance, while official Bishop
merchandise will also be on sale.
Refreshments will be served
following the press conference, and
door prizes will be awarded.
The decision to seek a new logo
design came in the fall of 2005 with
overwhelming support from students,
athletes, faculty, staff, and
alumni. A special committee was then
appointed to oversee the project,
followed by the approval of rough
sketches in the spring of 2006.
Bishop followers hope that the
contemporary design will awaken a
new sense of pride for the Blue and
Gold.
