Softball's Bass named
Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region

The North Carolina Wesleyan softball program and head
coach John Brackett are pleased to announce that
shortstop Ashlee Bass has been named a Louisville
Slugger All-Region performer by the National Fastpitch
Coaches Association. A Second Team selection, this is
the third All-Region award for the talented senior. Bass
(pictured) was a Second Team pick in 2006 and First Team
pick in 2005 when she went on to garner All-American
honors.
Bass leaves Wesleyan as
a four-time All-Conference selection, two-time NCWC
Female Athlete of the Year, and two-time Most Valuable
Player. This season, she led the team with a .422
batting average, 43 runs batted in, and 11 stolen bases
en route to First Team All-USA South accolades and
NCCSIA All-State honors.
Additionally, her eight homeruns in 2008 set a new
single-season mark for the Bishops.
A native of Midlothian,
VA, Bass is the most decorated player in softball
history and ends her Blue & Gold tenure with nine season
and/or career records. They include: season batting
average (.500), season hits (67), season homeruns (8),
career average (.441), career hits (205), career doubles
(42), career runs scored (132), career total bases
(304), and career fielding assists (312).
