Rikki
Cockrell Rich enters her fifth year as
North Carolina Wesleyan’s Sports Information
Director and third as Title IX Coordinator,
most recently assuming the role of Assistant
Athletics Director in the summer of 2009.
Additionally, Rich is the current chair of
the USA South Sports Information Committee.
She returned to her hometown
of Rocky Mount in the summer
of 2005 after serving as Assistant Athletics
Director of Media Relations at the
University of North Carolina at Pembroke
from 2003-2005.
A 1997
product of nearby Southern Nash High School,
Rich had her
basketball jersey retired as the school’s
all-time leading scorer. She also led her SNSH softball squad to a NCHSAA
State Championship victory in 1995. For her
efforts, Rich was named the 1997 Wilson
Daily Times Athlete of the Year.
Upon her
high school graduation, Rich joined The
University of North Carolina at Pembroke as
both a student and athlete. She received her
Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in
May of 2001, while completing a minor in
Computer Science. She was a Cum Laude
graduate and Chancellor’s Scholar, as well
as a four-year letterwinner in basketball
and softball. As a senior, she received
UNCP’s Most Valuable Player Award in basketball and Coach’s
Award in softball.
Rich
began the fall of 2001 as an assistant in
the UNCP Sports Information Office, gaining
valuable experience in media relations,
website maintenance, and statistics
compilation. During that time, she also
served as an assistant coach with the Lady
Brave women’s basketball program.
She received her Master’s degree in
Mathematics Education in May of 2003 and
promptly accepted a permanent position with
her alma mater, assuming the role of UNCP’s
Sports Information Director and Senior Woman
Administrator. She was
later promoted to Assistant Athletics Director.
Rich now oversees all media aspects of NCWC’s 13 varsity sports, including design
and maintenance of the official athletics
website. She is also responsible
for
eligibility certification, as well as the coordination of marketing for the Battling Bishops Club. As Title IX
Coordinator, she oversees the Department
of Athletics' efforts to comply with and
carry out its Title IX responsibilities.

Rich and
her husband, Marcus, reside in Nashville.
They have one daughter, Addison.
