Wesleyan volleyball wins third straight in 3-0 sweep

Murfreesboro, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan volleyball squad won its third straight match on Wednesday night, downing the homestanding Hawks of Chowan University in a 3-0 sweep.  Scores from the match were 30-17, 30-22, and 30-16.  Sydney Bens and Brittany Insley each had 12 kills for the Bishops, who are now 7-13 on the season.  Caitlin George added 34 assists, leaving her just 36 shy of the career record.

Seniors April Wilson and Liana Poyer each had six kills, while Ashley Fletcher came off the bench to tally four kills and two blocks.  Bens recorded 13 digs to pace Wesleyan defensively.

As a team, the Bishops doubled up the Hawks with 40 kills to Chowan's 20.  Wesleyan recorded a .247 hitting percentage in the match.

Jasmine Orozco paced Chowan with 11 kills, while Whitney Perry had 16 assists.

The Bishops return to USA South action on Tuesday when they travel to Methodist College.  Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Fayetteville.
