Wesleyan volleyball splits two at USA South Tri-Match

Greensboro, NC - The volleyball team of North Carolina Wesleyan split two league matches at Greensboro College on Saturday, sweeping Mary Baldwin 3-0 before falling by the same score to the host Pride.  The Battling Bishops are now 9-6 on the season, 2-1 in USA South Conference action.

Against Mary Baldwin, game scores were 30-19, 30-19, and 30-28.  As a team, the Bishops recorded a .227 hitting percentage to the Squirrels .046.  Sophomore Brittany Insley paced Wesleyan with 12 kills, while setter Caitlin George dished out 19 assists.  Kelly George anchored the Bishop defense with 10 digs.

Game scores against Greensboro were 30-13, 30-23, and 30-23.  Wesleyan struggled offensively, turning in 26 kills against 20 attack errors for a .080 hitting percentage. Junior Syney Bens tallied a team-high nine kills, and Caitlin George chipped in 21 assists.  Insley and Kelly George each totaled five digs defensively.

Next up for the Bishops is Tuesday night's conference match at Christopher Newport.  Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Newport News.
