NCWC netters advance to USA South Semifinals with sweep

Rocky Mount, NC - The Bishop volleyball team of North Carolina Wesleyan made quick work of Ferrum College on Tuesday night, sweeping the Panthers 3-0 in USA South Tournament quarterfinal action.  Game scores were 30-26, 31-29, and 30-18.  Sophomore Brittany Insley (pictured) was dominant in a 20-kill, 8-block performance.  NCWC improves to 21-13 overall and advances to Friday's semifinals.

Insley turned in a season-best .600 hitting percentage with 20 kills against just two errors in 30 attempts.  Senior Caitlin George prolonged her impressive career with a game-high 32 assists, while libero Kelly George led the defensive effort with eight digs.  Jessica Johnson added five block assists.

For Ferrum, Mindy Altice and Jessica Flanagan had 15 and 14 kills, respectively.  Altice and Lauren Thurman anchored the FC defense with 13 digs apiece.

Although the Panthers had eight more total kills than the Bishops in the match, they recorded 15 more attack errors.  Wesleyan also dominated at the net, tallying 13 blocks as a team.

Wesleyan will now await results of the rest of Tuesday night's tournament action before learning its semifinal opponent and host.
