Driver paces Wesleyan women in 76-56
win over Peace

- Freshman Desiree' Driver led a
balanced North Carolina Wesleyan attack on Tuesday night as
the Bishops earned a 76-56 win over Peace College in Everett
Gymnasium. Driver (pictured) recorded ten points, seven
rebounds, a steal, and a block for the Bishops, who saw nine
different players make their way into the scoring column.
Wesleyan has now won two of its last three contests and is
6-11 overall, 3-8 in USA South play.
With neither team
performing well offensively in the first half, the Bishops
were pleased to take a 29-18 lead into the break. The
second half was a different story as Wesleyan shot nearly 56
percent from the floor.
Essence Chambers led all
scorers with 23 points, while Cheyenne Hall had seven points
and a team-high nine rebounds. Freshman Gretchen
Tobias also recorded in seven points and added eight boards,
three assists, and three steals. Tiffany McCord and
Madonna Ware came off the bench to chip in seven and six
points, respectively.
For Peace, LeAnne Horne
netted a team-high 13 points. The Pacers (5-12, 1-9)
shot 33 percent from the floor as a team.
Wesleyan dominated scoring
in the paint, 36-12.
The Bishops return to
action on Friday when they play host to Meredith College at
5:30 p.m.
