Ateba paces NCWC cross country squad at Wolfpack Invite

Raleigh, NC - Junior Carole Ateba turned in a team-best time of 25:38 to pace her North Carolina Wesleyan cross country squad at Friday's Reebok Wolfpack Invitational hosted by NC State University in Raleigh. Although Wesleyan finished 10th as a team, three Bishop runners managed to shave nearly three minutes off of their meet times from last week's Salem Invite.

Ateba finished 66th out of 92 runners and was followed closely by freshman Hanna Hietenan with a time of 26:32 (72nd).  Senior Juliana Richardson recorded a time of 27:20 (78th) to improve by 3:05 from last week. Freshmen Jennifer Oster (29:01) and Amanda Frimpong (29:31) rounded out Wesleyan's scorers. Frimpong's time was 5:22 better than in her first collegiate meet.

NCWC turned in team score of 252 points. The meet featured 10 primarily Division I teams and was won by the University of Maryland with 24 points. Brittany Tinsley of NCSU earned medalist honors with a meet-best time of 17:30.

The Battling Bishops return to action on October 9th at the Mount Olive College Invitational. The race is slated for a 5:00 p.m. start.
