Mt. Olive, NC - North Carolina Wesleyan’s cross country squad turned in solid 5th-place finish at Friday’s Mount Olive College Invitational, a 5K meet featuring six Division II teams in addition to the Battling Bishops. NCWC was led by junior Carole Ateba (pictured), who turned in a program-record time of 24:06 to finish 17th among the field of 43 runners.

Senior Juliana Richardson also turned in her best performance of the season with a time of 25:37 to secure 24th place.  Other Bishop runners included Bristy Parker (29:40/36th), Amanda Frimpong (30:26/37th), and Hanna Heitanen (31:14/39th).

UNC Pembroke took first place with five top-10 finishers, while Belmont Abbey’s Emily Boggs earned medalist honors with a time of 20:06.

As a team, the Battling Bishops beat out Barton College and Fayetteville State University.

Wesleyan returns to action next Saturday at the Guilford Quaker Invitational. The meet is slated for a 10:15 a.m. start in Greensboro.
