Greensboro, NC - Senior Juliana Richardson ran the final USA South meet of her career on Saturday morning, leading her Battling Bishops to an 8th-place finish at the 6K event held in Greensboro. The first four-year senior in North Carolina Wesleyan cross country history, Richardson (pictured) turned in a time of 31:21 to finish 45th among 67 runners. She finished behind junior teammate Carole Ateba, who set a new NCWC record in the meet with a time of 30:36.

Also competing for the Bishops were Hanna Hietanen (32:22), Bristy Parker (35:50), and Amanda Frimpong (38:31).  As a team, Wesleyan turned in a score of 217 points.

Christopher Newport earned four of the top five finishes to take the Championship with 23 points. Shenandoah took second, followed by Mary Baldwin in third.  The Captains' Dira Hansen captured medalist honors with a time of 23:52.

The top 15 runners at the meet were named to the USA South All-Conference team. For the third straight year, Richardson was chosen as Wesleyan's representative on the All-Sportsmanship squad.

Saturday's meet marked the end of the 2009 NCWC cross country season.
