award-winners

The USA South
has announced
its
All-Conference
awards for
baseball,
tennis,
softball, lacrosse
and golf. North Carolina Wesleyan had 24
athletes earn
recognition,
while six
Bishops were named to their respective All-Sportsmanship
teams. Among the 20
honorees, there
were four First
Team honorees, eight
Second Team
picks, three Third
Team selections, and nine
Honorable
Mentions.
Leading the way
were head
coaches Charlie Long and Dominic Modise, who each earned
Coach of the Year accolades for the second consecutive
season.

Wesleyan's lacrosse
squad wrapped up its
2010 schedule over the
weekend, falling to
Randolph College by an
11-8 score at home on
Saturday before dropping
a 20-3 decision to
Bridgewater on Sunday.
Prior to Saturday's
match versus the
Wildcats, head coach
Ramona Walters and her
squad honored the two
senior members of this
year's Battling Bishop
team: Megan Kintner and
Sarah Matulich (both
pictured with Walters).

Wesleyan lacrosse drops
11-2 decision at Ferrum
College
Ferrum, VA
- The Panthers of Ferrum
College forged a 7-1
halftime lead and did
not look back en route
to an 11-2 victory over
NC Wesleyan in Saturday
afternoon's USA South
women's lacrosse action.
Ferrum (8-3, 3-2 USA
South) got four goals
and two assists from
Brooke Hewartson, while
Sarah Matulich tallied a
goal and an assist for
the Bishops.

- In this week's
lacrosse
action, North Carolina
Wesleyan dropped two
non-conference home
matches, falling to
Centenary College by a
24-5 score on Wednesday
before dropping a 12-3
decision to Lancaster
Bible on Friday. Senior
Sarah Matulich led the
Bishops with five goals
and an assist over the
two-game span.

Panthers 9-8

- NC Wesleyan lacrosse

career coaching victory
on Monday afternoon as
her Battling Bishops
defeated LaGrange
College by a 9-8 score
in USA South play.
Senior Sarah Matulich
did most of the damage
with a season-high six
goals, while Sacejewia
Evans made five saves en
route to her first win
in goal.
