Bishop women's soccer season ends with tourney loss

Greensboro, NC - North Carolina Wesleyan's women's soccer team saw its 2007 season come to an end on Tuesday afternoon with a loss to Greensboro College in the USA South Tournament's quarterfinal round.  The Pride forged a 2-0 halftime lead and added an insurance goal late to secure the 3-0 final.  Wesleyan finishes the season with a 5-12-0 overall record.

The eventual game-winner was scored by GC's Amanda Johnson in the 19th minute on a Tessa Hall corner kick.  Cassie Shepherd booted home the game's second goal at the 27:30 mark after a Mary Sandifer shot bounced off the crossbar.

Shepherd also recorded the final score in the 77th minute on assists by Ashley Cabral and Kelli Viana.

Greensboro out-shot Wesleyan 25-2 in the match.  Junior goalie Bryanne Godfrey made an impressive 11 saves in the losing effort.  Pride keeper Shana Saganich got the win in goal.
