NCWC women
celebrate Senior Day with 3-0 win over MBC

NC - The NCWC women's
soccer team celebrated its 2009 Senior Day in style on
Sunday afternoon, earning a 3-0 victory over Mary Baldwin at
Scalf Field. Prior to the match, head coach Beverly Biancur
honored seniors Sarah Hess, Meredith Hester, Aubrey Bonorden,
Tiara Joyner, Sarah Matulich, and Joanne Younblood (all
pictured). The win capped an exciting weekend for the
Bishops, who turned in a 1-1 draw versus Shenandoah on
Saturday.
Wesleyan's seniors
were instrumental in the Bishops' 1-0-1 weekend. Joyner
tallied NCWC's lone goal versus the Hornets on Saturday on
an assist from Hester, while Hester tallied a pair of scores
against the Squirrels on Sunday, including the gamewinner.
Bonorden added an assist on the second of Hester's scores,
and Hess earned the shutout in goal.
Other Bishops
enjoying productive weekends were Katri Snellman, Lauren
Young, and Elizabeth Grantman. Snellman assisted on
Hester's gamewinning goal on Sunday, while Grantman tallied
her first goal of the season on an assist by Young in the
84th minute.
Earlier in the
week, the Bishops fell to nationally-ranked Mary Washington
by a 6-0 score. Wesleyan now enters the final week of the
regular season with a 5-11-1 overall record, including a
3-4-1 mark in USA South play. NCWC will host Christopher
Newport University at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
