NCWC women's tennis ends season at USA South Tourney

Murfreesboro, NC - North Carolina Wesleyan's tennis squads wrapped up their regular season schedules on Tuesday at Chowan University.  The Bishop women downed CU by a 6-3 score, but the men lost by the same margin.  Wesleyan's women will enter this weekend's USA South Tournament with a 6-10 record, the best in program history, while the men will take a 5-8 mark into tourney action.

Including Tuesday's match with the Hawks, the Bishop women have played four non-conference matches over the past week and a half.  They began with a convincing 8-1 win over Salem College before dropping matches to Guilford and Barton by 8-1 and 7-0 scores, respectively.  Senior Jenna Gollub went undefeated at #1 singles during that span.

With a 2-5 league record, the Bishops will enter the conference tournament as the #6 seed.  They will take on #3 Shenandoah University in first round action at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

On the men's side, NCWC dropped its final three matches, including a 9-0 defeat at the hands of USA South foe Christopher Newport.  They also dropped an 8-1 match at Guilford to finish at 5-8 overall.

With a 3-3 league record, the Bishop men will enter the conference tournament as the #4 seed.  They will face #5 Greensboro College on Friday at 9:00 a.m. in Burlington.
