NCWC women's tennis ends season at USA South Tourney

Burlington, NC - The Battling Bishop women's tennis team saw its 2007 season come to an end on Friday as 6th-seeded Wesleyan fell to 3rd-seeded Shenandoah by an 8-1 score in USA South Conference Tournament first round action.  Senior Jenna Gollub (pictured) ended her Bishop career by recording NCWC's lone point at #1 singles.  A three-time All-Conference selection, Gollub finished the season with an 11-6 singles mark and led her squad to a program-record six wins.

The Hornets jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles play, and the Bishops would not recover as SU took five of six singles matches.

Gollub took her first set with Colleen Hightower by a 7-5 score and held a 2-0 lead in the second set before Hightower was forced to retire.  Shenandoah recorded straight-set wins at the remaining seeds.

Wesleyan ends the season with a 6-11 record.  The Bishops were 2-5 in conference play and finished as the league's sixth seed, their highest finish in program history.
