NCWC women's tennis goes
2-0 in weekend league

The Bishop women's tennis
squad
earned two USA South
wins this weekend,
picking up 7-2 wins over
Averett and Ferrum on
Saturday and Sunday,
respectively. Jenna
Gollub, Kayla Miller,
Kaite Bright (pictured),
and Crystal Lashley all
went undefeated in both
singles and doubles
action in the two
matches. Wesleyan
is now 3-3 overall, but
more importantly, evens
its conference record at
2-2 on the season.
Under the direction of
second-year head coach
Jacy Whiddon, the
Bishops are off to the
best start in program
history.
On Saturday at Averett,
Wesleyan jumped out to a
2-1 lead in doubles play
as Gollub/Miller and
Bright/Lashley were 8-2
and 8-1 winners at #1
and #3 doubles.
The same four were
straight-set victors in
singles action, with
third-seeded Ashley Ball
earning the Bishops'
final point with a 6-2,
6-3 win over AU's Kim
Carroll.
Sunday's match at home
versus Ferrum began and
ended in the same
fashion, but this time
it was NCWC's Brooke
Lashley who earned
Wesleyan's final point
at #4 singles with a
6-4, 6-3 win over FC's
Leah Austin.
Also of note, Gollub
remained undefeated on
the season at #1 singles
as she improved to 6-0
with the two wins.
Wesleyan returns to
action on Monday when
the Bishops host
Methodist University.
Match time is slated for
5:30 p.m.
