Baseball Bishops ranked 25th in NCAA Division III national poll

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan baseball program is pleased to announce that its 2006 Bishops have earned recognition in the NCAA Division III national poll, as voted upon by the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association).  The Battling Bishops, who boast a 17-10 overall record, cracked the top-30 with a #25 ranking in Monday’s latest poll.  Wesleyan is currently ranked 5th in the South Region.

The Bishops’ road to recognition began with a 1-0 victory over then 12th-ranked Hampden-Sydney back on March 7th.  Wesleyan followed that up with a three-game sweep of then 9th-ranked Ferrum College.  Most recently, the Bishops wrapped up their third straight USA South series win after taking two of three versus Shenandoah this past weekend.  Wesleyan currently sits atop the conference standings with a 10-5 league mark and has won 11 of its last 15 contests.

The Bishops will be traveling to Phoenix, AZ today to participate in the Greater Phoenix Collegiate Baseball Tournament.  Wesleyan will be playing five games beginning on Wednesday.  Please be sure to visit www.ncwc.edu/athletics for updated game times, opponents, and scores.
