Pecora makes professional debut with Gateway Grizzlies

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan baseball program and head coach Charlie Long are pleased to announce that former Battling Bishop standout Chris Pecora has signed a contract with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Independent Frontier League. Based in Sauget, Illinois, Pecora (pictured) made his professional debut with the Grizzlies on Saturday night, going 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored.

Pecora was a two-time All-Conference performer for the Bishops and boasted a career batting average of .368.  He also drove in 94 runs and stole 81 bases for the Blue & Gold. Other career accolades included being named USA South All-Tournament on two occasions, as well as Most Valuable Player of the Battling Bishops’ 2006 squad that made the program's 12th appearance in the NCAA Division III World Series.

A native of Henderson, NC, the talented outfielder is currently batting .294 with a .400 on-base percentage over four games with the Grizzlies. To track his progress, visit Gateway's official website at http://www.gatewaygrizzlies.com/.
