Battling Bishop
cheer squad receives first bid to NCA Nationals

Mount, NC
- The North Carolina
Wesleyan Department of Athletics and head cheer coach Samantha McAuliffe are
pleased to announce that the Battling Bishop cheerleading squad has earned its
first bid to NCA College Nationals. McAuliffe's Bishops recently finished a three day camp with
the NCA (National Cheerleaders Association) that was held
August 14-16. In order to receive a bid,
teams had to attain certain goals during camp, such as
completing and hitting specific stunts and performing well
during their evaluations. more

continued their busy
summer last week by
volunteering at
Rocky Mount's Parks
& Rec Department.
Wesleyan
cheerleaders held a
camp for girls ages
5 to 12 and were
pleased to have 14
campers over the
four-day event,
which was
held at the Senior
Citizens Center
downtown.
Participants were
taught various
cheers, chants, and
dances, as well as
proper motion
technique. more

Athletics Department to oversee cheerleading program
Rocky
Mount, NC
- North Carolina Wesleyan College has announced that
its Battling Bishop cheerleading squad will now fall
under the direction of the Department of Athletics.
The decision to reclassify the activity came with
increased interest among the NCWC Student Body and
potential recruits. Former Wesleyan cheerleader
Samantha McAuliffe will serve as the program’s head coach. McAuliffe, who had served as
volunteer assistant coach for the past three
seasons, is excited about the transition.
