Wesleyan cheerleaders volunteer at Rocky Mount Parks & Rec

Rocky Mount, NC - Head coach Samantha McAuliffe and her Battling Bishop cheerleaders continued their busy summer last week by volunteering at Rocky Mount's Parks & Rec Department.  Wesleyan cheerleaders held a camp for girls ages 5 to 12 and were pleased to have 14 campers over the four-day event, which was held at the Senior Citizens Center downtown.  Participants were taught various cheers, chants, and dances, as well as proper motion technique. more >  

Ball to serve as Ambassador for "Tennis Shoes 4 Africa"

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the creation of a new community service initiative: Tennis Shoes 4 Africa. The project was devised by head tennis coach Dominic Modise, while Wesleyan junior Ashley Ball (pictured) is serving as its current Ambassador. The program revolves around the donation of used pairs of shoes that will be shipped to Coach Modise's hometown of Mmabatho, South Africa, where kids fight the effects of poverty and disease on a daily basis. more >

Battling Bishop football to offer free clinic for area youth

Rocky Mount, NC - The 2007 USA South Conference Champion North Carolina Wesleyan Bishop football program would like to invite area youth grades K through 8 to its 2008 Spring Camp on Saturday, April 5th.  The day will include a tour of the Bishop football facilities, an hour of football instruction with the Bishop coaching staff, and an opportunity to meet the Bishop football players.  Each camper will receive a Bishop Media Guide for an autograph session with the players. Battling Bishops finish second in Hoops 4 Hunger food drive

Rocky Mount, NC - The final tally is in for the first annual HOOPS 4 HUNGER award! North Carolina Wesleyan, the smallest of the participating institutions, is pleased to announce a second place finish behind Wake Forest University! more >

Wesleyan hoopsters to "Think Pink" on Saturday, February 16th

Fayetteville, NC - The USA South is pleased to announce its involvement with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) "Think Pink Week". This program is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The USA South's participation in the "Think Pink" initiative will include all ten women's basketball teams, as well as several men's teams, and take place from February 8th through the 17th. more >

Wesleyan announces two February community service events

Rocky Mount, NC - The men's and women's basketball teams of North Carolina Wesleyan are pleased to announce two exciting community service events that will be taking place during the month of February.  The first is their involvement in Kay Yow's Hoops 4 Hunger, which will begin on February 1st and run through the 29th.  The second is Wesleyan's annual "Take a Kid to the Game" day, which is slated for Saturday, February 9th. more >

Bishops participate in several fall community service projects

Rocky Mount, NC - Part of being a successful student-athlete involves giving back to the College's surrounding community.  This past fall, our Battling Bishop teams embraced this concept by participating in and completing several community service projects in the area.  Whether distributing our annual September 11th season passes to local law enforcement or volunteering for the department's reading program at area elementary schools, all 12 Bishop squads found themselves involved in the effort. more >
