Eagles pull away late, NC Central downs Wesleyan men 85-70

Durham, NC - Division I North Carolina Central University had its hands full with a feisty Battling Bishop men's basketball squad on Wednesday night, but the Eagles managed to pull away down the stretch to defeat North Carolina Wesleyan by an 85-70 score in front of over 2,000 fans in Durham. Sophomore Domarius Thomas (pictured) tallied 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals off the bench in solid all-around performance, while three other Battling Bishops managed double-figures in the contest. Wesleyan dominates USA South postseason football awards

Fayetteville, NC - The USA South released its 2009 postseason awards for football on Wednesday with a total of 94 student-athletes earning All-Conference honors. NC Wesleyan is pleased to announced that the Bishops earned four of the five individual awards and boasted an unprecedented ten First Team selections. Leading the way were seniors Bo Jordan and LeeRon Boykin, who earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors. Additionally, James Wallace collected Defensive Rookie of the Year accolades, while Mark Henninger (pictured) was named Coach of the Year. more >

Jordan and Stokes tabbed USA South Players of the Week

Fayetteville, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that two Battling Bishops have earned USA South Player of the Week recognition in their respective sports. Senior quarterback Bo Jordan was named football's Offensive Player of the Week, and senior guard Lamont Stokes was tabbed basketball's Player of the Week. more > 

Blue & Gold to face Wesley College in first round of playoffs

Indianapolis, IN - The NCAA released its 2009 Division III Football Championship bracket on Sunday afternoon, and North Carolina Wesleyan has learned it will travel to Delaware to take on the South Region's top-seed, Wesley College, next Saturday at 12:00 noon. The 3rd-ranked Wolverines were awarded a
No. 1 seed after completing an undefeated regular season at 10-0,
while the Blue & Gold were tabbed the No. 8 seed after posting seven straight wins and an 8-2 overall record. more >

Stokes' 23 not enough, Bishops drop opener at Wesley 90-73

Dover, DE - Senior Lamont Stokes poured in a career-high 23 points on Sunday afternoon, but it was not enough as the North Carolina Wesleyan men's basketball team dropped its season opener
by a 90-73 score on the road at Wesley College. Stokes (pictured) knocked down 7-of-11 attempts from the floor, including 4-of-8 from behind the arc and 5-of-7 at the charity stripe. The Wolverines, however, netted 59 points in the second half to erase a 33-31 halftime deficit and pull away down the stretch. more >

USA SOUTH CHAMPIONS!  Bishops go 7-0 with 49-27 victory at AU

Danville, VA - For the second time in program history, the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan can call themselves USA South Conference Champions!  NCWC secured its second undefeated league title in the past
three seasons with a dominating 49-27 victory at Averett University on Saturday. Senior quarterback Bo Jordan (pictured) paved the way with a school-record five rushing touchdowns on the day. Winners of seven straight, the Bishops (8-2)
will now await their seeding and opponent for the first round of the NCAA Playoffs, which being next Saturday, November 21st. more >
