Gold make
football history
with undefeated
league slate

The football
team of North
Carolina
Wesleyan College
made history on
Saturday night.
With a 55-14 win
over Greensboro
College at
Jamieson
Stadium, the
Blue & Gold
became the first
team in USA
South history to
go undefeated.
It also secured
the first
out-right
champion in
league history.
Sophomore
Teron Bush
(pictured) led
the way with
three
touchdowns, two
rushing and one
receiving.
Wesleyan
dominated GC in
all facets of
the game as the
Bishops amassed
584 total yards
and 28 first
downs. The
Pride managed
only 132 total
yards and 14
first downs.
Teron Bush
opened the
scoring for
Wesleyan with a
51-yard
touchdown run
early in the
first quarter.
After a NCWC
36-yard field
goal by senior
Brian Vaughn,
Bush scored
again from two
yards out to
give Wesleyan a
17-0 lead.
GC drove into
Wesleyan
territory
several times in
the first half
but turned the
ball over three
times. The
Pride’s Darnell
Walker did
manage to get
Greensboro on
the board with a
6-yard run, but
Bush scored
again on a
37-yard pass
from quarterback
Cedric Townsend
to put Wesleyan
up 38-7 at
halftime.
The Bishops
added two quick
touchdowns to
open the third
quarter. The
first came on a
seven-yard run
by senior Derek
Robinson and the
second on an
eight-yard run
by back-up
quarterback Josh
Dunigan,
effectively
putting the the
game out of
reach.
Pride senior
Steven Losiewicz
scored the
game’s final
touchdown on a
1-yard run.
Wesleyan’s
Townsend
finished 10-of
-18 for 157
yards and two
touchdowns.
Bryan Haywood
led the Bishop
rushing attack
with 143 yards
on 10 carries.
Defensively,
Donnel Cherry
tallied five
tackles, while
Demetrious
Whitehead and
Judd Hyde each
had an
interception.
Tim Bagamary
caught eight
passes for GC
for 62 yards.
Linebacker Brick
Crowder was in
on 11 tackles.
Wesleyan
finishes the
regular season
on an eight-game
winning streak
for an 8-2
overall record.
The Blue &
Gold’s 11-game
winning streak
in conference
play will now
carry over into
next season.
Having secured
the young
program’s first
NCAA playoff
berth, NCWC will
now await
seeding for next
weekend’s
opening round.
An announcement

late Sunday
afternoon with
game time and
opponent.
