Former
Bishop Nathan Hackney set to begin AIFA pro career
Rocky Mount, NC
- The North Carolina
Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that
former Battling Bishop Nathan Hackney (pictured) has signed
a professional football contract with the Fayetteville
Guard, an affiliate of the American Indoor Football
Association (AIFA). Hackney, who was a member of Wesleyan's
inaugural senior class in 2007, currently serves as a
graduate assistant coach at the University of North Carolina
at Pembroke.

Battling Bishops earn
D3Football.com All-Region
honors

- Head Coach Mark
Henninger
and the North Carolina
Wesleyan football
program are pleased to
announce that
four
Battling Bishops have
earned All-South Region
honors from
D3Football.com.
Defensive linemen Quinderra Spellman and
LeeRon Boykin, along
with
safety Quentin Pope and
offensive lineman
Anthony Moore, were all
tabbed Third Team
All-Region selections
after garnering First
Team All-USA South
accolades. The
four
helped lead Wesleyan to
a 6-4 record this fall,
including a 5-2
league mark.

announces All-Conference awards for football
Fayetteville, NC
- The USA South Athletic
Conference has released its 2008 All-Conference
teams and Player of the Year awards for
football. The North Carolina Wesleyan
Department of Athletics and head coach Mark
Henninger are pleased to announce that 14
Bishops were honored, led by freshman Stedman
Mathis' Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Of
Wesleyan's 14 picks, eight were First-Team
selections, which was the most of any other
league opponent. The Bishops also boasted
two Second Teamers, three Honorable Mentions,
and an All-Sportsmanship representative.

- Prior to the start of Saturday's football game
versus Greensboro College, head coach Mark Henninger and his
Battling Bishop squad honored their 2008 seniors. Fourteen
young men comprise this year's class, thirteen of which are
four-year letterwinners.
