Wesleyan golf finishes fifth at Mt.
Olive Spring Invitational

- The Battling Bishop golf squad
competed on Monday and Tuesday at
the Mt. Olive College Spring
Invitational in Goldsboro, NC.
The two-day tournament was played at
the 6,912 yard, par-72 Lane Tree
Golf Course. For the second
straight week, Mt. Olive took home
top team honors with a 624 team
total (317-307). The Trojans
also took first place at last week's
Don Scalf Invitational hosted by NC
Wesleyan. Behind a two-day 174
by Chris Crews, the Bishops managed
a fifth-place finish among the
six-team field.
Crews led Wesleyan for the second
straight week with rounds of 94 and
80 en route to a 26th-place finish
(+30). Daniel Chewning
finished two strokes behind Crews to
lock up 27th, while Steve Lee shot a
two-day 178 to tie for 29th.
Adam Cooper rounded out the Bishop
scorers.
Mt.
Olive took home the top three
individual finishes, led by Jonathan
Greene who earned medalist honors at
9-over par (79-74=153).
Virginia Wesleyan finished second in
the team standings, followed by
Anderson University, Johnston
Community College, and NC Wesleyan.
Johnson C. Smith finished in last
place with a two-day 774.
The Bishop men will
next be in action on March 16th and 17th at the
Fairfield University Spring Invitational in Myrtle
Beach, SC.
