Three Bishops among USA South postseason award-winners
Winchester,
VA -
The USA South Athletic Conference has
announced its All-Conference awards for men's basketball
with a total of 20 student-athletes earning recognition.
North Carolina Wesleyan juniors Jarmel Arrington and Trey
Drake were named to the league's Second Team, while freshman
Alex Murray (pictured) was the Battling Bishops'
representative on the All-Sportsmanship squad.
Arrington earns
All-Conference accolades for the third time in his career.
The talented shooter led the entire USA South in scoring at
17.8 points per game, while knocking down a league-best 74
attempts from behind the arc.
Drake picks up
All-Conference honors for the second time in his career
after averaging 14.5 points per game, which ranked fifth in
the league. Drake also ranked third in the USA South
in assists (146), three-pointers made (49), and steals (48).
Finally, Murray
completed an impressive freshman campaign that saw him twice
earn Rookie of the Week recognition. He led the team in
blocks this season with 31, while ranking second on the
squad with 169 rebounds and 44 steals.
Other awards around
the league saw Averett University sweep the individual
honors. Jonathan Rumley was chosen as the Player of the
Year, Kenny Hart as Rookie of the Year, and Jimmy Allen as
Coach of the Year. The complete 2008-09 All-Conference teams
