Mount, NC -
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has
released its 2008 All-Region and All-American teams.
North Carolina Wesleyan and head coach Jason Kilby are
pleased to announce that three Battling Bishops
garnered All-South Region recognition, while junior forward
Danny Persson (pictured) went on to earn First Team
All-American honors. The Bishops, who won the 2008 USA
South Conference Tournament and finished with a 16-3-2
overall record, received a a #24 national ranking in this
season's final poll.
Persson, a native of Umea,
Sweden, became the seventh NCWC men's soccer

All-American accolades after being tabbed a First
Team
All-South Region
performer. The talented forward set new program records this
season with 26 goals and 59
points over 19 games
played. Additionally, Persson tallied four game-winning
goals and was named the
USA South's Player of the

Battling Bishop
defense
that allowed just 18
goals and recorded 10 shutouts this fall. He, too, was
a First Team All-USA
South selection.

Ivanovich (left) of Nokesville, VA picked up Third Team
All-South Region accolades after tallying six goals and six
assists on the pitch this season. Like Persson and Schmedes,
the junior co-captain was also a First Team All-USA South

three players on their well-deserved recognition!
