Jason Kilby is entering his seventh season
as the head coach of North Carolina Wesleyan's men's soccer program. In his
six seasons, Kilby has led the Battling Bishops to an 80-29-8 overall
record, and a
29-5-4 USA South Conference mark, including back-to-back undefeated
championships in 2004 and 2005, as well as back-to-back undefeated regular
seasons in 2006 and 2007.
Kilby took over a struggling Wesleyan
program in 2002 and led his first Bishop squad to a 9-8-2 overall record.
The rebirth of NCWC soccer was put into high gear in 2004 as the Kilby-led
Bishops went 16-2-2 overall and 6-0 in the USA South Conference, winning the
regular season and tournament championship for the first time since 1988.
The Bishops earned an NCAA Tournament berth and finished the season ranked
#18.
Since that time, Kilby’s Bishops have
continued to succeed on the playing field. Most recently in 2007, Kilby led
NCWC to a program-best 18-2-0 record, an undefeated regular season, an
appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16, and a #2 national ranking for most of the
season. Currently, Wesleyan has an 24-game unbeaten streak in regular season
USA South play, having turned in a 22-0-2 mark since 2004.
Prior to Wesleyan, Kilby spent four years
as an assistant coach at Frostburg State University and was credited with
much of his alma mater’s success. FSU won the AMCC Regular Season
Championship each of those years and won the AMCC Tournament three times.
FSU posted an overall record of 56-25-1 during his tenure on the coaching
staff.
Professional soccer is also an
accomplishment for Kilby as he has played in the USL and the USISL, as well
as the Moseley Football Club in London, England. He currently holds a NSCAA
Advanced National License, as well as a USSF “B” License.
Coach Kilby and his wife, Autumn, reside
in Rocky Mount.
