Bishop men's tennis tabbed 16th in final ITA national
rankings

- The Intercollegiate
Tennis Association (ITA) has released its final national
rankings for the 2009 season with the Battling Bishops of NC
Wesleyan coming in at #16. The ranking is the highest in the
history of the men's tennis program and caps a
record-breaking season that saw Wesleyan capture the USA
South Regular Season and Tournament Championships, as well
as an NCAA berth.

Bishop
tennis ends season with 5-2 loss to Emory in NCAAs

- The storybook season
for the North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team came to an
end on Sunday afternoon with a 5-2 loss to #2 Emory
University in the Atlantic South Region Championship. The
loss was the first of the season for the 23rd-ranked
Bishops, who set a new program record for wins with their
15th on Saturday versus #17 Mary Washington. In just his
second year with the program, this spring saw head coach
Dominic Modise (pictured) lead Wesleyan to one of the best
seasons in program history with a 15-1 overall record.

NCWC tennis to face Mary Washington in NCAA Regional action

- Since securing the
2009 USA South Tournament Championship over two weeks ago,
the men's tennis team of NC Wesleyan has been anxiously
awaiting its fate for the upcoming NCAA Division III
Tournament. On Tuesday, head coach Dominic Modise got the
announcement that his Battling Bishops will face off against
the University of Mary Washington in Saturday's regional
action hosted by Emory University.

Wesleyan's top-seeded men's tennis team won the
2009 USA South Tournament Championship on
Sunday with a 5-4 victory over 3rd-seeded
Averett. With the victory, the Bishops, who are
currently ranked 22nd in the nation, earned the
program's first-ever Conference Tournament title
and now boast a perfect 14-0 record on the
season heading into the NCAA Tournament.
